My Life in Like

God Bless You, Sir.

Haven’t written a poem in a long, long time. Hope you enjoy this simple one I’ve written tonight. I just thought of all the things I’m thankful for, of the negativity that we fight each day. How some people who have wonderful lives tend to pity themselves, or pity others based on things they view as an unfixable problem, as an ailment… when in fact, some people who have less then we do, or have bigger problems or certain handicaps – enjoy life more because they take life as a gift. Sometimes we just need to be reminded that life is a wonderful and happy journey.

I am not a poor man,
Nor am I blind,
Yet I still believe I suffer,
Because of what I cannot find.

I am not a cripple,
Or a beggar on the street,
Yet I still believe I suffer,
For I’m always in defeat.

I am not a leper,
Or a bastard son,
Yet I still believe I suffer,
For the riches I haven’t won.

No, I am not an orphan,
Or a father of an unwanted child,
Yet I still believe I suffer,
For the relationships left untied.

I am not a good man,
For I live life in fear,
Yes, I believe I suffer,
With each falling tear.

I am not a truthful man,
For I have two children and a wife,
Yet I still believe I suffer,
For it’s I who’s cheated life.

Dear Sir, I beg you,
Take pity on me,
For you who are poor,
A leper, a bastard son;
Can still smile, for good you have done.

God Bless You, Sir,
For taking all your gifts,
Whether with one arm,
A black eye, or having taken a few hits…

God Bless You Sir,
For with love you answer all,
Whether good days, bad days,
With God’s courage, you’ll never fall.
